Vick Holds “Player’s Only Meeting”

About 10 players, including Vick, spoke at the meeting. The message: There was still time for the Eagles (3-4) to salvage the season.

“We just needed to come together after that loss (to Atlanta on Sunday) and hash it out,” defensive tackle Mike Patterson said of the meeting.

Tight end Brent Celek told the Philadelphia Daily News that the meeting was called because the Eagles need “drastic changes, and we need to do it. It needs to be shown on the field.”

“I think things just need to get cleared up. Nothing major; I’m not going to really get into specifics about what we talked about, but quite a few things needed to get cleared up, and it happened, and it was good for our team,” he told the newspaper.

“I’ve got to get my swag back,” Vick said. “I got to get back to playing football the way I love to play it and not worry about what’s going to happen. That’s out of my control. All I can control is how I play and how aggressive I can be.”

“Players only meetings” are usually the death rattle before a player and or team goes down for the count.  The Eagles problems are much deeper than just Vick; No O-Line, undersized receivers, bad play calling and the newest one to surface a soft defense? Vick and the Eagles offense will probably look great against a pathetic Saints D, but I think the true measure will be how their defense responds to the Saints attack.  Get your swag back son…and if you do, make sure you pass it along to the rest of the team, cause as of right now…you aint the only problem the Eagles have.

Vick Has Blown Through $30 Million Since His Release

Ever wonder how in the hell anyone of these athletes can be broke??  Many of  us go through our daily lives paying our bills, scraping to get by and somehow we manage.  Then we see these high profile athletes claiming bankruptcy and we’re like how in the hell?!?  Well Mike Vick is a prime example of how it happens.  Lets take the $30 mill he’s made and gone through since his release.

– $10.9 went to taxes

– $9.2 mil went to creditors

– $2.7 went to lawyers and accountants

– The rest is for various things, including child support and living expenses.

This leaves him about $1.5 Million to live off of until his pay day comes in next year.  ($35 mill guaranteed) Now don’t get me wrong, the guy is far from broke, especially for a guy who’s supposedly “bankrupt” …gotta love America.  So I guess what I’m trying to say here is, this is a lesson here to all the rookies on the come up.  1.  Stay out of JAIL!  2.  Wrap up.  3.  Ditch the posse.  4.  Live your life like this isnt gonna last forever (especially football players).  And finally you only need one Bentley.  Take some advice from Shaq, he didn’t spend one penny of his NBA paychecks.  Yep that’s right he banked it all and lived off his endorsements.  Now I’m sure his endorsements were pretty good compared to the rest, but at least he had a plan.  He’s done and gone from the NBA and still living very large (pun).
