Lock City: Week 8 NFL Picks

Carolina Panthers (1-5) at Chicago Bears (5-1)

The Bears have put up some big numbers already this season, scoring 34 or more points in half of their games.  I actually think Jay Cutler being banged up has kept the line reasonable.  I like the Bears in this one…A LOT.

Miggles Pick – Bears – 7.5

Atlanta Falcons (6-0) at Philadelphia Eagles (3-3)

Philadelphia is a great team who hasn’t played well and is playing a great team who has played too well. Vick is definitely playing for his job in this one and what better way to break out than against his former team. Andy Reid is also 13 – 0 after a bye, I think he keeps that streak in tact here. My strongest play of the week

Miggles Pick – Eagles -3

Washington Redskins (3-4) at Pittsburgh Steelers (3-3)

I like the Skins to cover with a possibility of them taking the game outright. Pittsburgh has been squeaking by everyone of their wins this season. Definitely taking the points here.

Miggles Pick – Skins +4

Miami Dolphins (3-3) at NY Jets (3-4)
The Jets pulled out a close 23-20 overtime victory against the Dolphins earlier in the season in Miami. Since that loss though the Dolphins have lost just one game and have been in three very close match-ups. I like them to run all over the Jets and win this one outright.
Miggles Pick – Miami +1.5
NY Giants (5-2) at Dallas Cowboys (3-3)
I like the Giants to get redemption on the road after losing at home to Dallas to open the season. Look for the Giants to run the ball a lot and throw as many passes to tight ends as possible trying to take advantage of Sean Lee’s absence in the middle of the Dallas defense.
Miggles Pick – Giants – 2.5
New England Patriots (4-3) at St. Louis Rams (3-4)
Getting a touchdown with a home team in most cases in the NFL is a good starting point.  Rams aren’t necessarily the home team here, but they arent the road team either.  I like the points here as the Rams can keep games close.
Miggles Pick – Rams +7

Richard Sherman Talks Trash to Tom Brady

So Richard Sherman was in Tom Brady’s face all game Sunday, taking every opportunity to get in his ear. “I kept saying I’m going to get that next time,” Sherman recalled to the Tacoma News Tribune. “Every TV timeout, I went up and said it right to (Brady): ‘Please keep trying me. I’m going to take it from you.’ That was when they were winning. He just gave me that look and said, ‘Oh, I’ll see you after game.’ Well, I made sure I saw him after the game.”

Sherman tweeted:

“He told me and earl to see him after the game when they win….. I found him after…. “

Thennnnn he tweeted:

Thennnnnnnn he tweeted:

“Brady sure looks like a man who turned the 12thMan against us”

Thennnnnnnnnn:

“Patriots fans mad lol… Talking bout Super Bowl rings…. What have u done lately? Oh ur 3-3 lol”

And finally:

“Lol these ppl are hilarious … They have the audacity to call someone classless when they are name calling over the net lol… I love it”

I love how people are calling this a “Tom Brady trash talk backfire.”  The kid was in his ear all game and I actually think one of the classiest responses, besides not responding at all is “see me after we win.”  Granted he was wrong, but I don’t think its a bad move, considering they usually win 9 times out of 10 in that situation.

Richard Sherman

  • Birth DateMarch 30, 1988 (Age: 24)
  • Birth PlaceCompton, CA
  • Experience2 years
  • College Stanford

Theres a couple ways you can look at this.  Id like to call Sherman an idiot, but noticed he went to Stanford?? I can easily call him a thug…born and raised in Compton, Ah ha, to easy. I will do neither.  I dont think the big deal here is the trash talking, its the amount.  Im all for it and have been guilty of it once or twice myself, but there is a limit though.  Getting in his ear on the field is fine, seeing him after the game is finer.  Tweeting over and over and over and over again about it afterwards is not.  Its exactly what he has been called as of late…classless.  Act like youve been there, act like youll do it again.  So back to the root cause…not stupid – Stanford, not a thug – Compton (to easy), He’s only 24, a baby, so Im going to call this age and lack of maturity, withhhhh a sprinkle of thug (sorry couldnt resist).

Ill leave you with a bit of class:

Asked about Sherman’s comments Monday, Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels said he doesn’t pay attention to the trash talk.

“They have a good defense, they really do. They have one of the top defenses in the league. I give them a lot of credit,” he said. “They play a lot of players in there, and they play the run well, and they defend the pass well. They don’t give up a lot of big plays. They played better than we did yesterday.”

PS – I hate the Patriots and was completely happy to see all of this play out.  You suck Tom!!! What son?? WHAT???

What? I said I was guilty of it too 😉

Miggles

Lock City: Week 3 NFL Picks

Miggles Season Record 10 – 8 – 2

Cincinnati Bengals (1-1) at Washington Redskins (1-1)

I don’t like the line at the momet especially with the Redskins losing to the Rams and losing two of their best defenders in the process, but it is their home opener and RGIII and the Skins will be jacked up. As such, I like the total a lot more as these are two high flying offenses at the moment and with Cincinnati struggling defensively and the Skins without Orakpo and Carriker I think this one fly’s over 46.5.

Miggles Pick – OVER 49

Atlanta Falcons (2-0) at San Diego Chargers (2-0)

This should be a good one as both teams defend the run well and have QB’s who can get the ball in a hurry. The QB’s are close, Rivers maybe a better arm, Ryan less likely to take a bad chance and make a big mistake but the Falcons receivers are the better group and Turner the better option at running back and that should be the difference and the points make this an even better play.

Miggles Pick – Atlanta +3

Houston Texans (2-0) at Denver Broncos (1-1)

The Texans are the team to beat int e AFC and the Broncos don’t have enough to beat them so even as a small favorite in their second of back to back road games they are the choice here.

Miggles Pick – Houston -1.5

Pittsburgh Steelers (1-1) at Oakland Raiders (0-2)

The total in this one is set a little too low as today’s NFL is all about scoring and we should see some here as both of these teams have quick strike ability.

Miggles Pick – OVER 44 and Steelers – 3.5

Philadelphia Eagles (2-0) at Arizona Cardinals (2-0)

Philly looked like the team they set out to be the whole second half last week.  They held Flacco to a 6 for 20 performance in the second half on the way to their second consecutive comeback.  I think the turnovers are over and we are gonna see a full four quarters from them this time and they win by a TD here.

Miggles Pick – Philly – 3

New England Patriots (1-1) at Baltimore Ravens (1-1)

Im not too sold on the Pats D as of yet.  Holding the Cards to single digits at home doesnt sway me too much.  Ravens D is opportunistic and definitely makes things happen, but if they allow Gronk to get off like they did Celek last week, it could be a long game for them.  That being said, Im not too sure they were prepared for Celek, rest assured they have prepared for Gronk.  I think Ravens hold court at home and cover this spread easy.

Miggles Pick – Ravens – 3

Gronk Is Living The Dream

USA TODAY – Rob Gronkowski and former adult film star Bibi Jones has hit the Internet, one year after pictures of the scantily-clad woman modeling Gronkowski’s New England Patriots jersey caused a brief stir and forced the tight end to apologize to team owner Robert Kraft.

The photo was tweeted from Jones’ account Tuesday night. In it, she’s wearing a bikini bottom and holding up Gronk’s No. 87 jersey to cover the upper-half of her body.

BiBi Tweeted:

“@Britney_Maclin: Gronk told me he dropped those balls bc he was thinking of me! Gotta get back in his life (:

Wow Gronk Killing it with the: ” I cant even focus on football Ive been dropping balls without you.” You don’t get a bigger meat head than Gronk but I wouldn’t have it any other way, the guy is a legend at 23 years old. He has grown men frothing at his lifestyle, wearing his jersey just wanting to be him. He is Football or at least what its supposed to be.

Patriots Pick Up Kellen Winslow Jr

LATimes – Kellen Winslow Jr. has agreed to a one-year contract with the New England Patriots, according to a report Tuesday morning on ESPN.com.

Winslow is an eight-year veteran tight end who made the Pro Bowl with the Cleveland Browns in 2007, when he caught for a career-high 1,106 yards to go with 82 receptions and five touchdowns. He has hit the five-touchdown mark two other times, in 2009 and 2010 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Kellen Winslow Jr has potential to fit in on the field perfectly with this Patriots offense. That being said, I don’t know how well the personalities of headcoach Bill Belichick and Kellen will mesh on the sideline. Winslow brings a hard to contain time bomb demeanor to the team, much like that of Chad Ochocinco minus the Diva-esque behavior.  Two tight-ends of this caliber (Gronk and Winslow) will certainly create a threat for future match ups. Consider Winslow for your fantasy roster, if you haven’t already.
