DM- Lance Armstrong was today stripped of his seven Tour de France titles and banned for life, following a report from the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency that accused him of leading a massive doping program on his teams.
UCI President Pat McQuaid announced that the cycling federation accepted the USADA’s report on Armstrong and would not appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The decision clears the way for Tour de France organizers to officially remove Armstrong’s name from the record books, erasing his consecutive victories from 1999-2005.
Man, they really made an example out of Lance here. Stripped of all his titles, banned for life, his sponsors gave him the boot.. basically forced to step down as chairman of ‘Livestrong‘. Way to kick a guy while he’s down.
My take on this is similar to Miggles’ I mean you know all these guys dope, plain and simple let them all dope. It’s a sport and we pay to watch them.. should we not see them at the best they could possibly be?
Let Lance Live (start the campaign 25% to us.)
Ok if Nike drops you, you know you are guilty. Nike has a pretty strong track record of standing by some pretty sketchy athletes during troubling times. They supported, defended and continued to pay Tiger Woods, Kobe Bryant, Ben Roethlisberger and Brett Favre during allegations of cheating, raping, raping and sexting. Seems as though in this case, by the message they released, their feelings were a little hurt by Lances dishonesty.
“Due to the seemingly insurmountable evidence that Lance Armstrong participated in doping and misled Nike for more than a decade, it is with great sadness that we have terminated our contract with him. Nike does not condone the use of illegal performance enhancing drugs in any manner.”
Oh and dont get it twisted as the kids say, Nike is ALL for juicing, its the getting caught part it frowns upon. Trust me, when one of Nike’s athletes is playing out of his or her shoes, Nike could care less what they are taking to get them there.

Everyone knows my take on this. Let em all dope I say. We pay Billions of dollars each year to watch, root far, support our favorite athletes, why not let them juice their tits off or dope their blood up to make them insanely strong and fast? I can picture it now, 600 ft home runs, sub 4 second 40’s, front flip follow up dunks, 450 yard drives, boxers actually getting their heads knocked off, OK that one might be a little far, but you get my point. If I were president the first thing I would do is open up all steroid use to professional athletes. Probably why I’m not president, but shoot…
NEW YORK (Reuters) – Lance Armstrong and his team ran the most sophisticated doping programme in sport according to the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USDA) which released its report on the case against the US Postal cycling team on Wednesday.
USADA said it was sending the report, which was more than 1,000 pages long and contained the sworn testimony of 26 people, including 15 riders, to the International Cycling Union (UCI), the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC), before making it available on its website.
“The evidence shows beyond any doubt that the US Postal Service Pro Cycling Team ran the most sophisticated, professionalized and successful doping program that sport has ever seen,” USADA said in a statement from chief executive Travis Tygart.
“The evidence also includes direct documentary evidence including financial payments, emails, scientific data and laboratory test results that further prove the use, possession and distribution of performance enhancing drugs by Lance Armstrong and confirm the disappointing truth about the deceptive activities of the USPS Team, a team that received tens of millions of American taxpayer dollars in funding.”
LA Times- Lance Armstrong effectively surrendered his seven Tour de France titles Thursday, announcing he was giving up his years-long fight against accusations that he cheated to repeatedly win cycling’s greatest race.
U.S. Anti-Doping Agency Chief Executive Travis Tygart said late Thursday he was still waiting to hear directly from Armstrong but added that the cyclist’s decision not to proceed in an arbitration process will leave Armstrong stripped of all of his Tour titles and 2000 Olympic bronze medal and result in a lifetime competition ban.
“There comes a point in every man’s life when he has to say, ‘Enough is enough,'” Armstrong, 40, wrote in a statement emailed to The Times and other news agencies.
“For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in winning my seven Tours since 1999.”
Armstrong’s attorneys asked a USADA attorney to turn the matter over to UCI, the international cycling union, but USADA maintains it retains jurisdiction to strip the titles.
We have the phone call between Lance and McConaughey after news of his stripped Tour titles.
“I mean I always got the Creatine/Muscle Builder booster at Jamba Juice… Would that show up?”
I can completely see Lance turning into Uncle Rico… just crushing beers, selling magazines door to door and talking about the good ol’ days… But until then why not take the guys word for it, he never tested positive for steroids… who knows what those guys at Jamba Juice were throwing in his morning smoothie, I blame them. They sabotaged him. His previous teammates have all given significant evidence that he was doping but I think he was the only one on the team with natural ability. It’s the Tour De Lance.
