NHL UPDATE

Well, once again empty hope for the 2012-13 NHL season as games are nixed through November 1st.

ESPN – It is the second round of game cancellations since the lockout went into effect Sept. 19. Earlier this month, the NHL eliminated the first block of regular-season contests through Oct. 24. A total of 135 games are canceled, which amounts to 11 percent of the season.

“As expected,” New York Rangers goalie Martin Biron told The Associated Press in a text message. “We continue to work hard to find an agreement and get back to playing hockey.”

Also, these games are not necessarily lost yet.. they are technically postponed while the possibility to squeeze 82 games into the season still exists it is highly unlikely.

All I know is my fantasy football team has been better than ever strictly because i haven’t lost concentration in October like most years before… Thank you NHL.

“Hockey” Is Back!

Easy Wayne.

It’s the KHL…  For folks not familiar with the “Kontinental Hockey League” It’s a watered down version of the hockey we know and love.

The KHL premiered yesterday with a 1:00 pm broadcast on ESPN2.. the game featured stars like Zdeno Chara, Alex Ovechkin and Marian Hossa. However, outside of Ovie’s 3rd period game winner the game was scoreless and uneventful.

Oh yeah and you read that right.  ESPN the Deuce.  So sad…

END THE LOCKOUT

Now:

You’re Going the Wrong Way.  NHL Stars are heading out of the NHL and Quickly.

Evgeni Malkin and Sergei Gonchar have already practiced with their KHL team in Russia, Pavel Datsyuk, Jaromir Jagr and Jussi Jokinen are among the many who have as well signed contracts and I don’t blame them for a second. These European teams are ready to spend some cake, these NHL athletes are looking to make some its an easy equation. Go where the money is. The KHL is allowed to pay NHL players a maximum of 65 per cent of what they earn under their NHL contracts. These guys can go over to the KHL make millions without worrying about a stoppage, I could see a few of them having no desire to come back.

What do you think?
