Lock City: Thursday Night College, NFL Picks

A little Thursday night mix:

Oregon Ducks (6-0) at Arizona State Sun Devils (5-1)

Arizona State’s defense  AND offense will have to play much better than they did last week.  Although the Ducks have not really been tested in a hostile environment like ASU yet this year, I think they answer the call and lay it on (like normal) them.

Miggles Pick – Oregon -8

Seattle Seahawks (4-2) at San Francisco 49ers (4-2)

This one sets up to be a physical game and look for points to be tough to come by.   With that I look for Seattle to build off of its momentum from last week and to be a good test for the niners

Miggles Pick – Seattle +8

Lock City: Week 6 College Football Picks

Lock City was a solid 4-2 in College last week and 9-3 the past 2 weeks…..once again to give it all back with the NFL, but lets keep making that money with the kids.

North Carolina Tar Heels (4-2) at Miami Hurricanes (4-2)

Miami has won the previous two meetings, including last year in Chapel Hill. I believe Miami will bounce back strong at home, they may lose a close one, but I’ll take the points with the home dog.
Miggles Pick – Miami +7.5

Stanford Cardinal (4-1) at Notre Dame Fighting Irish (5-0)

The Cardinal are worse than they were last year and the Irish are much improved in 2012.  Notre Dame is finally back in the talks for BCS and a double digit win at home against Stanford solidifies that.  Ill take the Irish here.

Miggles Pick – Notre Dame – 7

South Carolina Gamecocks (6-0) at LSU Tigers (5-1)

This should be a defensive battle and getting points in a game where points may be tough to come by is a solid choice.

Miggles Pick South Carolina +3

Louisville Cardinals (5-0) at Pittsburgh Panthers (2-3)

Pitt’s run game and defense leave a lot to be desired.  Louisville is undefeated and while their previous two road games have been a bit shaky, they have gotten the wins.  I like Louisville D to have a good game plan after a bye week, Louisville by a TD.

Miggles Pick – Louisville – 3

Lock City: College Football Week 6 Picks

Ok so last weekend we went 5-1 in college!  Only to give it all back on Sunday. Damn you NFL!

20 – 17 – 2

Southern Cal Trojans (3-1) at Utah Utes (2-2)

The Trojans won away their away games last year by 21, 14, 25 and 3 points. The fact that Arizona blew the doors off the Utes also has me concerned for Utah.  Although a home dog here I’m laying the points as I see USC still believing they have something to prove.

Miggles Pick – USC – 13

Arkansas Razorbacks (1-4) at Auburn Tigers (1-3)

Arkansas is 0-7 against the spread in their last seven road games and 0-4 against the spread in their last four games overall.  I’m not a big trend guy, but they kind of stink and playing in Auburn I just don’t see them covering one more time.

Miggles Pick Auburn – 9.5

Virginia Tech Hokies (3-2) at North Carolina Tar Heels (3-2)

North Carolina has dominated at home and lost two very close games on the road.  I don’t see a Virginia Tech team that has not even come close to living up to the hype pulling this one out either.

Miggles Pick – UNC -1.5

Arizona Wildcats (3-2) at Stanford Cardinal (3-1)

Stanford has been touch and go this season.  Started off slow with a squeaker vs San Jose State, then crushed Duke, took down USC and got upset by Washington.  I think they rise to the occasion here to a much inferior team who couldn’t put a point up against Oregon and I honestly think Stanford has a better D than Oregon.

Miggles Pick – Stanford – 12

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (2-3) at Clemson Tigers (4-1)

Clemson has been high flying as of late and Georgia Tech’s defense is putrid.  This is definitely a bad match up for the Yellow Jackets and I see them getting spanked here in Death Valley.  Clemson by 3 TD’s or more and the over is the play here.

Miggles Pick – Clemson – 10 and OVER 73

Lock City: Week 3 College Gameday Picks

Ok so far our football betting record is 9-6-1 and looking build this week with todays picks.

Virginia Tech Hokies (2-0) at Pittsburgh Panthers (0-2)

This one is pretty simple for me.  Pitt is bad, their D couldnt slow down Cincinnati or Youngstown State.  Dont really see them slowing down Logan Thomas and VaTech.  On the flip side, Tech’s D is good and fast.  I dont see a horrible Pitt offense doing much on that side of the ball either.  I think -10 is a gift cause apparently playing in Pitt has been difficult for some.  I really dont think that matters much here as I see Virginia Tech rolling.

Miggles Pick VaTech -10

South Alabama Jaguars (1-1) at North Carolina State Wolfpack (1-1)

State started the year on the road with two pretty tough games, at Tennessee and Uconn.  They finally come home on their season opener with an over matched Southern Alabama team who couldnt score a TD last week against Nichols State?  I didnt even know Nichols had a football team.  I dont think Southern gets on the board today and State trounces them by 5 or 6 TD’s.  Dont like the big spreads, but -30.5 is very doable in this one.

Miggles Pick – NC State -30.5

Notre Dame Fighting Irish (2-0) at Michigan State Spartans (2-0)

This should be one of the better games on Saturday.   The Spartans have looked impressive in their first two outings this season, and even though the Irish did come out a bit flat against the Boilermakers, keep in mind that ND had to travel back from Ireland the previous week, which leads me to take the points here.  Can they win?  Not so sure, but I think its gonna be close and the fact that Im not sure they win or lose Ill take +5 points with a ND team that still thinks they could be in BCS talks at the end of the season.

Miggles Pick ND +5

Southern Cal Trojans (2-0) at Stanford Cardinal (2-0)

This is another case of maybe, just maybe Stanford can pull this off.  They have won 2 of the last 3 between the two teams and I think they give USC a scare here at worst.  Im taking the points again in this one.

Miggles Pick – Stanford +7.5

Lock City: Miggles College Picks of the Week

Ok week one didnt yield us any money, but it was a semi respectable 3-3.  Im looking to make up for it this week as I have used all of my knowledge (or the internet) to give us 4 pretty solid picks.  Trust me?

North Carolina State Wolfpack (0-1) at Connecticut Huskies (1-0)

One of my winning picks from last week was NC State getting outclassed by the SEC and a fast Tennessee.  This week the same thing will happen in reverse as Connecticut will get outclassed by the ACC and NC State.  State basically gave the game away last week by giving up 16 points in 38 seconds in the first quarter and somehow, someway still managed to have a chance deep into the fourth.  Mike Glennon and the nations best secondary last year look to redeem themselves as they travel to CT and get their first win.  I like this at -3.5 if you can get it at -3 …I love it.

Miggles Pick – NC State – 3.5

Purdue Boilermakers (1-0) at Notre Dame Fighting Irish (1-0)

The Boilermakers are an improved team this season, and Marve looks like he could finally be healthy enough to live up to his expectations. The Irish are the better team here however, and I’m starting to think or (even better for this game) think they think or maybe we both think  they are a dark horse for BCS champ talks. Purdue should keep it close for awhile, but I think the talent and depth of Notre Dame take over late and the Irish pull away and get the cover here.

Miggles Pick – ND -14

Washington Huskies (1-0) at LSU Tigers (1-0)

LSU won all six games at home last year by 24 or more and I don’t see a change this year, at least in this game as a pretty bad road team in the Washington Huskies come to Baton Rouge.  I usually try and stay away from the big spreads, but I cant on this one.  Miggles loves the Tigers here in a rout.

Miggles Pick – LSU -24

USC  Trojans (1-0) at Syracuse Orange (0-1)

Ok I lied about the big spread thing.  I mean is it a big spread if the team is going to cover it?  Im not even sure that makes sense.  Anyway, USC is on a mission this year, their post season ban has been lifted and they are a serious contender for BCS champions.  They are not only looking to win the big ones, they are looking to blow out the little one’s to leave no doubt at the end of the season.  THAT made sense.  USC Rolls.

Miggles Pick – USC – 26
