Does Romo Really Suck?

I mean dont get me wrong 5 picks in a game is god awful AND this isnt the first time he’s thrown 5 picks.  (2007 against Buffalo and he actually won 25-24!)  Now back to the question…does Romo really suck?  I have always said there’s a fine line when it comes to individual efforts from QB’s.  Now dont get me wrong here there are plenty that shine above the rest, but we all have to remember that this is a TEAM GAME.  There are a million moving parts to a game and especially to the QB position.

Lets start earlier in the week…Did Dallas come in with the wrong game plan?  Many great teams have lost to inferior teams because they were out coached and out game planned, ask the Patriots all about it.  Next, did Dez really let him down?  Im gonna throw 40% of the blame on Dez, he looked terrible in spots.  Now, did his line hold up?  Im gonna throw 25% on his line as he was under the gun all night.  Also, which could be partially game planning, they could not run the ball worth a shit.  Finally Romo, he threw some pretty terrible balls and forced a lot of things where a better QB would not have.  I think with the line sucking, Dez sucking and a pretty bad game plan Romo was swimming upstream from jump street.  Also the fact that he sucks doesnt help much either 🙂

Bottom line – Its easy to jump all over an individual player for sucking or “doing great”, but we have to factor in many other key elements.  Did Montana make Rice or did Rice make Montana?  I mean there are certain players we know make themselves, Barry Sanders, Calvin Johnson to name a couple.  Either way in this case I dont think it matters and Im saying Romo does suck, but a little food for thought.

Lock CIty: Week 5 College Football Picks

Ok Ok so we moved up to 16-11-2 this week.  Looking to extend this mini winning streak today with some strong picks.

North Carolina State Wolfpack (3-1) at Miami Hurricanes (3-1)

NC State and Miami will wage in an ACC battle of two 3-1 teams in Miami today. Miami is  2-0 in conference play while the Wolfpack will be playing their first ACC game of the year. NC State’s run defense hasn’t been very good this year, and Miami will look to pound the ball all day long against a weak front seven. Im gonna side with the home team in this one and lay the 2 points, in a game that could be a shootout if the defenses don’t step up.

Miggles Pick – Miami – 2

Ohio State Buckeyes (4-0) at Michigan State Spartans (3-1)

This line started out as a pick’em game, and since has moved to MSU -2. I think there is some value here with the Buckeyes as OSU is a better team than they showed us last week.  I think the Spartans are the inferior team here and Im guessing being at home has made this line what it is.  +2 points is a gift and Im taking Ohio State in the outright win.

Miggles Pick = Ohio State +110

Clemson Tigers (3-1) at Boston College Eagles (1-2)

Clemson has won three of the last four meetings between the two schools. If Clemson upset Florida State, this would set up as a game that the Tigers may look over and take lightly. However, coming off that tough loss I think the Tigers will come out hot and ready to run the Eagles off their own field. Boston College has had two weeks to prepare, but all the time in the world couldn’t prepare the Eagles defense for Clemson’s offensive weapons. Boston College may score over 20 points, but I don’t see them slowing down the Tigers offense. I’ll lay the points with Clemson and my stronger play will be on the over as this will be another ACC shootout.

Miggles Pick – Clemson – 6.5 and OVER 59

Louisville Cardinals (4-0) at Southern Miss Golden Eagles (0-3)

Louisville, despite their sub-par showing against FIU, is a very solid team on both sides of the ball and a class above anyone else who has romped Southern Miss this season. I look for the Cardinals to run away with this one… This is my strongest play of the day.  LOCK

Miggles Pick – Cards – 11

WM

Lock City: Thursday Night NFL Pick of the Week

15 – 11 – 2 on the season STILL IN THE GREEN!

Cleveland Browns (0-3) at Baltimore Ravens (2-1)

The Ravens have won 12 straight at home and I don’t see a scenario that keeps them from moving on to 13 this week. Cleveland sits near the bottom of the league rushing charts at just 87.3 per game and will not do any better against the Ravens. The Ravens have struggled defending the passing game this season, but have also faced three of the better passing teams in the league in Cincinnati, Philadelphia and New England. The Ravens are not a quick strike offense and tend to produce long drives spanning 8 or more plays. I see the Ravens focusing more on Ray Rice and the running game as they will not be forced to play catch up football against the young and inexperienced Browns. This doesn’t appear to be an exciting show for the NFL Network audience, but we will happily take a win at the betting counter with a low scoring contest. Under 43.5 points is the call here.

Miggles Pick – UNDER 43.5

Mafia Paid Replacement Refs

Ok this could be a huge conspiracy theory, but hear me out.

  1. NFL Ref’s association says that for 85% of the replacement refs this was a second job.
  2. These “refs” also knew that this gig wasn’t gonna last forever.
  3. Many of these calls were SO BAD that one had to even wonder, have these guys ever even watched a football game before?
  4. As for the case in Green Bay….  This was a game changer, spread killer, and VIDEO evidence “verified” it was incorrect yet all of these part timers (except for one unflappable man) agreed on the wrong call.
  5. Vegas projected that 80% of the action was on GB and$250,000,000 changed hands because of that call world wide.  That’s a quarter of a BILLION dollars, wrath of god money!!

You’re telling me that not even .0001% of that couldn’t have been kicked back, offered upfront, or families lives put in danger to a part time worker? Im probably not the best example, but if you think that if  someone approached me at my part time job, that isn’t going to last much longer and offered me, lets sayyyy 250k, I’m not doin it…. you’re NUTS!  That’s just me though, there are plenty of people with much stronger moral fabric then I have, but plenty doesn’t mean all.  Food for thought.  OMG I’m so getting whacked for this.

Lingerie Football League FIRED Current NFL Replacement Ref

Ok so heres the gist of it.  The LFL yes the Lingerie Football League fired all of its refs because of poor calls and one of those refs now works for the NFL.

LFL Commission Mitch Mortazaer  learned after the Green Bay debacle that one of the replacement refs on staff for the NFL, the 9 billion dollar industry known as the National Football League is now employing Craig Ochoa, a ref that was subsequently fired from the LGL for poor performance!!

Mortazaer:

“They were hurting our overall broadcast caliber,” Mortaza says. “And if it’s opening up our players for potential injury, those things raise red flags here. Is it hurting overall credibility? When either of those two things are compromised, it’s time to start thinking about parting ways.”

“The entire crew was released due to several poorly called games which included missed calls, poor judgment and poor presentation for broadcast,” Mortaza says.

Listen I’m all for people getting a second shot in life, but two things here the NFL needs to realize.  1. Like stated earlier, this is a 9 BILLION dollar industry and they are only 3 MILLION off on their disagreement.  To put this into perspective $250, 000, 000 supposedly went to sportsbooks all over the world because of the blown call in the Green Bay game.  2.  IF you are going to be this petty and jeopardize the credibility of such and industry lets dig a little deeper on the back ground checks before hiring the replacements.
Sad thing….how many of us are hoping to see more bad calls (not against our teams) this weekend cause it makes for good TV?!?  OMG Goodell is a GENIUS!!!

Lock City: Week 3 NFL Picks

Miggles Season Record 10 – 8 – 2

Cincinnati Bengals (1-1) at Washington Redskins (1-1)

I don’t like the line at the momet especially with the Redskins losing to the Rams and losing two of their best defenders in the process, but it is their home opener and RGIII and the Skins will be jacked up. As such, I like the total a lot more as these are two high flying offenses at the moment and with Cincinnati struggling defensively and the Skins without Orakpo and Carriker I think this one fly’s over 46.5.

Miggles Pick – OVER 49

Atlanta Falcons (2-0) at San Diego Chargers (2-0)

This should be a good one as both teams defend the run well and have QB’s who can get the ball in a hurry. The QB’s are close, Rivers maybe a better arm, Ryan less likely to take a bad chance and make a big mistake but the Falcons receivers are the better group and Turner the better option at running back and that should be the difference and the points make this an even better play.

Miggles Pick – Atlanta +3

Houston Texans (2-0) at Denver Broncos (1-1)

The Texans are the team to beat int e AFC and the Broncos don’t have enough to beat them so even as a small favorite in their second of back to back road games they are the choice here.

Miggles Pick – Houston -1.5

Pittsburgh Steelers (1-1) at Oakland Raiders (0-2)

The total in this one is set a little too low as today’s NFL is all about scoring and we should see some here as both of these teams have quick strike ability.

Miggles Pick – OVER 44 and Steelers – 3.5

Philadelphia Eagles (2-0) at Arizona Cardinals (2-0)

Philly looked like the team they set out to be the whole second half last week.  They held Flacco to a 6 for 20 performance in the second half on the way to their second consecutive comeback.  I think the turnovers are over and we are gonna see a full four quarters from them this time and they win by a TD here.

Miggles Pick – Philly – 3

New England Patriots (1-1) at Baltimore Ravens (1-1)

Im not too sold on the Pats D as of yet.  Holding the Cards to single digits at home doesnt sway me too much.  Ravens D is opportunistic and definitely makes things happen, but if they allow Gronk to get off like they did Celek last week, it could be a long game for them.  That being said, Im not too sure they were prepared for Celek, rest assured they have prepared for Gronk.  I think Ravens hold court at home and cover this spread easy.

Miggles Pick – Ravens – 3

Josh Morgan Costs Redskins Game

First I want to give you a direct quote from Morgan about Cortland Finnegan before the game.

“He’s one of those guys that plays—you know how they say play to the whistle? He’s one of those guys that plays until you walk back to the huddle…He’s just got a little extracurricular with him, you know.

“You don’t want to be the second guy because the second guy is going to get caught,” Morgan said. “He’s going to come at you and he’s going to be the first, second and third guy. You’ve got to remind yourself not to be that fourth and fifth guy, and throw your hands up and walk back to the huddle.”

Couple things here;  How can you be so smart and so stupid??  Like he literally talked about this situation before it happened and let everyone know how composed he can be and how aware he is of it.  I dont even think Joshy Pants realizes this could have been a great time for an incredible “I told you so”.

Throw your hands up like you said and wink at the camera and you gain like 20,000 more fans you idiot.

Lock City: NFL Week 2 Picks

Washington Redskins (1-0) at St. Louis Rams (0-1)

For St. Louis to have a chance in not only this game, but throughout the season, someone will have to step up on offense for Sam Bradford.  With little names like like Danny Amendola or Brandon Gibson, or a TE like Lance Kendricks as options for stepping up, I just dont see that happening.

Miggles Pick – Skins -3.5

NY Jets (1-0) at Pittsburgh Steelers (0-1)

The Steelers are laying almost a touchdown here, but they should have plenty on both sides of the ball to cover this number as I believe what we saw from the Jets was more of a blip on the radar as opposed to what we will see from them the bulk of this season.  Steelers are 8-0 ATS following a loss and I dont see that changing here as Im not sold the Jets dont stink.

Miggles Pick – Steelers – 4.5

San Francisco 49ers (1-0) vs. Detroit Lions (1-0)

These two coaches hate each other, which in turn makes this a rivalry game, which in turn makes it a defensive game.  The total up over 46 is way too high for this one.  Love the under here.

Miggles Pick – Under 46

New Orleans Saints (0-1) at Carolina Panthers (0-1)

This one is one of my tougher calls this week.  Questions remain for both teams, like the Saints defense and Panthers run game.  I dont think either of these teams are what they showed last week.  I think they both are much better than that and will show it this week.  Both bounce back for a good game, but I see Carolina coming up a little short at home.  They are just not on the same level as the Saints as of yet.  Should be a lot of offense, but I like the Saints getting the monkey off their back and sneaking out a win on the road.

Miggles Pick – Saints – 2.5

Lock City: Week 3 College Gameday Picks

Ok so far our football betting record is 9-6-1 and looking build this week with todays picks.

Virginia Tech Hokies (2-0) at Pittsburgh Panthers (0-2)

This one is pretty simple for me.  Pitt is bad, their D couldnt slow down Cincinnati or Youngstown State.  Dont really see them slowing down Logan Thomas and VaTech.  On the flip side, Tech’s D is good and fast.  I dont see a horrible Pitt offense doing much on that side of the ball either.  I think -10 is a gift cause apparently playing in Pitt has been difficult for some.  I really dont think that matters much here as I see Virginia Tech rolling.

Miggles Pick VaTech -10

South Alabama Jaguars (1-1) at North Carolina State Wolfpack (1-1)

State started the year on the road with two pretty tough games, at Tennessee and Uconn.  They finally come home on their season opener with an over matched Southern Alabama team who couldnt score a TD last week against Nichols State?  I didnt even know Nichols had a football team.  I dont think Southern gets on the board today and State trounces them by 5 or 6 TD’s.  Dont like the big spreads, but -30.5 is very doable in this one.

Miggles Pick – NC State -30.5

Notre Dame Fighting Irish (2-0) at Michigan State Spartans (2-0)

This should be one of the better games on Saturday.   The Spartans have looked impressive in their first two outings this season, and even though the Irish did come out a bit flat against the Boilermakers, keep in mind that ND had to travel back from Ireland the previous week, which leads me to take the points here.  Can they win?  Not so sure, but I think its gonna be close and the fact that Im not sure they win or lose Ill take +5 points with a ND team that still thinks they could be in BCS talks at the end of the season.

Miggles Pick ND +5

Southern Cal Trojans (2-0) at Stanford Cardinal (2-0)

This is another case of maybe, just maybe Stanford can pull this off.  They have won 2 of the last 3 between the two teams and I think they give USC a scare here at worst.  Im taking the points again in this one.

Miggles Pick – Stanford +7.5

Lock City: Thursday Night NFL Pick

Chicago Bears (1-0) at Green Bay Packers (0-1)

I’m a little excited by this game tonight, cause I really think Im on to something…But dont let me influence you.  Ill just let you know what Im thinking and why.  1.  I think the 49’ers are that good.  2.  The NFC North has followed the NFL’s suit and has become more offensive than defensive.  3.  Green Bay can run, they just abandoned it as they we’re out matched last week by (refer to #1).  4.  Bears D is not what it was (refer to #2)  5. Aaron Rogers.  6.  Green Bay is 9-0  ATS in its last 9 games after a loss.  7. Jay Cutler stinks.  8.  Brandon Marshall is good.

Ok this call can be a little confusing, but when you add all of them together you get 36.  Just kidding 🙂 You get Green Bay bouncing back with a win by a shade under two TD’s, with both offenses putting some points up.  Green Bay 37-24

Miggles Pick – Green Bay -4.5 AND over 50.5

Lock City: Miggles Monday Night Football Pick

Ok so thus far week one has had some surprises, a few coming from the NFC East.  Cowboys look good, Giants look ehhh, Eagles were on the verge of starting the same way they did last year and RGIII might be the real deal.  That being said, we went 3-1 yesterday and 8-5-1 overall, looking to take those winnings and double them on a crazy, but “good” play tonight.

Cincinnati Bengals (9-7) at Baltimore Ravens (12-4)

The Bengals returned to the postseason led by rookie quarterback Andy Dalton who led the cats to an impressive season offensively that they will look to duplicate in the very tough AFC North. Rookie receiver AJ Green was equally as impressive and has already emerged as one of the league premiere receivers and with another training camp and preseason under his belt I think Green is ready to continue his progression and join the league’s elite. The Bengals also brought in former Patriots running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis to replace Cedric Benson in the back field giving Cincinnati a solid running game that is complimented by Bernard Scott and a solid aerial attack. Coming into Baltimore to open the season on Monday Night Football is no easy task and thus the line indicates the Ravens as a -7.5 point favourite but I think that may be a stretch considering this is a divisional game. The Ravens faithful will be doing their best to make it a tough environment for the Bengals but I think Cinci can hold their own and keep this thing close. Getting 7.5 points is a gift.

San Diego Chargers (8-8) at Oakland Raiders (8-8)

San Diego takes to the road to open the season on Monday Night Football in very hostile territory and while they may finish the season ahead of the Raiders, the season opener could be a very difficult one to win. Either way I think both of these teams will be more prolific on offense than on defense and will want to come out early to set a tone for the rest of the division. For that reason I think this one can go over the total as the likes of McFadden, Rivers, Palmer, and Gates will come out gunning and I think we could see a shootout here.

Miggles Pick – A Tease Cinci +14.5 and SD/Oakland Over 39.5

I know I know…But its gonna hit so shhhhh and trust me.

WM

Lock City: Miggles College Picks of the Week

Ok week one didnt yield us any money, but it was a semi respectable 3-3.  Im looking to make up for it this week as I have used all of my knowledge (or the internet) to give us 4 pretty solid picks.  Trust me?

North Carolina State Wolfpack (0-1) at Connecticut Huskies (1-0)

One of my winning picks from last week was NC State getting outclassed by the SEC and a fast Tennessee.  This week the same thing will happen in reverse as Connecticut will get outclassed by the ACC and NC State.  State basically gave the game away last week by giving up 16 points in 38 seconds in the first quarter and somehow, someway still managed to have a chance deep into the fourth.  Mike Glennon and the nations best secondary last year look to redeem themselves as they travel to CT and get their first win.  I like this at -3.5 if you can get it at -3 …I love it.

Miggles Pick – NC State – 3.5

Purdue Boilermakers (1-0) at Notre Dame Fighting Irish (1-0)

The Boilermakers are an improved team this season, and Marve looks like he could finally be healthy enough to live up to his expectations. The Irish are the better team here however, and I’m starting to think or (even better for this game) think they think or maybe we both think  they are a dark horse for BCS champ talks. Purdue should keep it close for awhile, but I think the talent and depth of Notre Dame take over late and the Irish pull away and get the cover here.

Miggles Pick – ND -14

Washington Huskies (1-0) at LSU Tigers (1-0)

LSU won all six games at home last year by 24 or more and I don’t see a change this year, at least in this game as a pretty bad road team in the Washington Huskies come to Baton Rouge.  I usually try and stay away from the big spreads, but I cant on this one.  Miggles loves the Tigers here in a rout.

Miggles Pick – LSU -24

USC  Trojans (1-0) at Syracuse Orange (0-1)

Ok I lied about the big spread thing.  I mean is it a big spread if the team is going to cover it?  Im not even sure that makes sense.  Anyway, USC is on a mission this year, their post season ban has been lifted and they are a serious contender for BCS champions.  They are not only looking to win the big ones, they are looking to blow out the little one’s to leave no doubt at the end of the season.  THAT made sense.  USC Rolls.

Miggles Pick – USC – 26

WM

Lock City: “Miggles is a Mush” Saturday College Games Re-cap

College week 1

Miggles 3 – 3

Ohio 24 Penn State 14

Ok to be clear, I had reservations on the Penn State game, but I did point us all in the wrong direction on this one.  They obviously are suffering from distractions still.  The new coach hasnt found his groove and the loss of their key running back has made a difference.  So we definitely know how to treat PSU going forward.  (bright part)? 🙂

Clemson 26 Aurburn 19

yeaaaaa soooooo Clemsons good.  They have always had flashes of greatness then flashes of god awfulness.  I think we missed a key clue that this game would be on the greatness side.  Them coming of the embarrassment of last years bowl game gave them 8 months to dwell and prepare for that to never happen again.  Hind sight is 20/20 and I can see clearly why Clemson should have been the pick there.

Notre Dame 50 Navy 10

Notre Dame is looking to be a contender this year and need to make a statement in their first game with an abysmal Navy team.   This should have been easy to see.  Of course I didn’t see shit on this but a lot of points, which obviously didn’t matter.

Miami 41 BC 32

I DID however pick the Miami vs. BC game.  Hard fought and high scoring, but the better team pulled it out.  Lets not get it twisted here, (as the kids say) neither of these teams are very good so anything could have happened, I just rode the fact that BC had too much to deal with when it comes to injuries.

Bama 41 Michigam 14

I got 2 words for Mayweather…. you’re an idiot!! OK 3, but reports were out all week that you are betting 3 mill on Michigan, no rebuttals, no tweets, not a peep from you or your camp.  The games over and suddenly out of the woodwork  your camp comes out stating you actually placed the bet on Alabama.  How am I supposed to read into this???  Im gonna give it a shot.  After the  game you sulk go to your room and talk to no one for the rest of the night.  You wake up, making breakfast and people start walking in the kitchen, not saying a word to you because they know what kind of “mood” your in.  You can feel their tension and you chime out, $50,000 to whomever can make this like I took Alabama.  A few of your cronies take the challenge and head on there way.  You finish breakfast alone, head to the shower, then off to the gym like nothing happend not talking about the bet with anyone untils its confirmed from your lackeys that they got the word out and the media is running with it.

I write this because how can anyone with a straight face trust anything you say?  Your EGO blurs the lines on what to believe and what not to believe.  Your money and constant stock of yes men causes that same problem.  So in a nut shell i’m sticking with non fictional (most likely ) story of events.  Sorry about your loss moron.

Miggles finished college week one 3-3. Ehhhh who doest love payin juice.  I guess its better than ponying up for the loss.

NFL coverage and picks starting this tuesday.  STAY TUNED!!!!

Lock City: Wister Miggles College Gameday Picks

Miggles – Ok lets start by saying that we are 2-0 after Thursday and Fridays picks.  Yes there was a “bonus pick” in there that went awry, but bonus picks dont count, thats why they are bonus.  Thats my story and I’m sticking to it.  Needless to say the bonus picks will be discontinued until further notice.  Ok back to the good stuff, first Saturday of the college season and there are some great games on tap.  Lock City isnt about great games though its about picking winners so lets get to it.

Clemson Tigers (0-0) vs. Auburn Tigers (0-0)

Aubrun is returning 15 starters and this is another classic case of SEC vs ACC.  Auburn’s strength will definitely be their defense this year as the have an avg offense at best.  Clemson has a high-powered offense with a defense that let them down late in the season and still isnt very proven.  With Sammy Watkins being out, I dont see Clemson’s offense being able to overcome the speed and size of Auburns defense.  Auburn has to face the likes of LSU, Alabama, Georgia and Arkansas later this season.  If they plan on making any noise they have to get past Clemson. SEC getting points against ACC in a Neutral spot.  SEC all the way!

Miggles pick Auburn +2.5

Miami Hurricanes (0-0) vs. Boston College Eagles (0-0)

Miami has had some distractions of late, but is returning some good players and has a lot of new talent all around the ball.  I don’t expect too much from this team this year as they are still quite young.  I do expect them to be able to handle Boston College on the road however.  BC was god awful last year and is decimated by injuries this year.  They are young and have no depth, add that to the fact they have TE Chris Pantale, CB Al Louis-Jean, and WR Bobby Swigert all out and lingering injuries to their 3 RB’s  Rolandan Finch, Andre Williams, and Tahj Kimble I don’t expect much at all from them today.

Miggles Pick Miami -2.5

Penn State Nittany Lions (0-0) vs. Ohio Bobcats (0-0)

We all know Penn States story, the question is can they bounce back?  I say they can with a new coach, new offense, new attitude and something new to play for, I think we are in for a surprise.  Happy Valley will be rocking today as everyone is gonna (by human nature) go above and beyond to show their loyalty.  Ohio is no slouch and had an impressive 10-4 season last year and was 34th in the nation in scoring averaging over 30 points a game.  The line dropped from +9 to +6.5 throughout the week and this goes to show the wiseguys see something in Ohio as they try and temp us with Penn State.  Wellllll I’m falling for it.  I like Penn State here I think this would be a huge monkey off their back to come out and play like a team again and get a big win to start the season.  I think they can squeeze a 1 TD victory here, BUT don’t be surprised of a talented Ohio team sneaks out an upset.  OK OK Penn State….I just had to hedge my thought process a little bit.

Miggles Pick Penn State – 6.5

Notre Dame Fighting Irish (0-0) vs. Navy Midshipmen (0-0)

Ill keep this one short and sweet as the game is close to starting.  Navy is a very opportunistic team and has a very solid RB core.  They return a seasoned QB and in this neutral site I think anything can happen.  Not much insight given here, but I think this is just too many points and they fight it out with ND.

Miggles Pick – Navy +14.5

$$$$$$  Money May laid 3 million on Michigan at +14. Its now down to +13.5 at Alabama I would take Bama all day on this one….Neutral site I think the moran might be on to something.  I’m not picking anything here, because I want nothing more than that idiot to lose 3 million bucks.  Roll Tide!!!!!!

Miggles
